Gaius Sallustius Crispus, usually anglicised as Sallust, was a Roman historian and politician from an Italian plebeian family. Sallust is the earliest known Roman historian with surviving works to his name, of which Bellum Catilinae (The Conspiracy of Catiline) and Bellum Jugurthinum (The Jugurthine War) are the most famous.
